A symposium on 'Only one China' was given at Heen Foh Conference Hall with the participation of 26 Sino-Mauritian associations under the aegis of the Chinese Students Graduates' Association by the chairman, Li Chee Siong on 13th October.

His Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Guo Yue Shen, honoured the function together with Mr Dang the 1st Secretary of the Chinese Embassy. How Chin Fah (President of the Chinese Students Graduates' Association) and Lim Chui Feng Lam Chan Kee spoke on the solidarity and unity of Sino-Mauritians cementing them together while Phan Phuock and Lim Yew Seng elaborated on the recent move of Chen Shui Bian to clamour for the independence of Taiwan on the threshold of general elections next year in an attempt to galvanise his supporters.

This was a deliberate act of provocation and His Excellency Wang Guang Ya (Plenipotentiary Ambassador at UNO) has protested promptly and vehemently. The motion was rejected in toto by the UNO as Taiwan forms part of the People's Republic of China. It will be an affront to dismantle the China Territory. The People's Republic of China is asking for a peaceful settlement and reunification after the handing back of Hong Kong and Macao. Li Fei Xiang has drawn a historical background of China to understand this problem in its real perspectives. His Excellency Guo Yue Shen expressed his joy to find such synergy gaining momentum among the Sino-Mauritian community. He expressed his heart-felt gratitude to the government and people of Mauritius for their unflinching support to the 'Only one China' policy. and long time long friendship.

The other speakers were Ah Men Lim Fat, Mario Hung, Tang Yun Shin, Ng Ha Kwong, Ng Kwet Sing and Michel Wan have also addressed the audience.
