Eritrea Festival 2007 in the UK opened yesterday in a colorful manner.

Present on the opening ceremony were Mr. Abdalla Jabir, Head of Organizational Affairs at the PFDJ, Mr. Naizgi Kiflu, Assistant for Local Government Affair in the Office of the President, and Ms. Leul Gebreab, Chairperson of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Saleh Abdalla, Head of Consular Affairs in the Eritrean Embassy, stressed the significance of the Festival in reinforcing national unity. Eritreans residing in the UK are enthusiastically participating in the Festival. An arts exhibition by Tedros Gebreamlak is being staged at the Festival.

The cultural troupe of Eritrean youth in the country presented cultural performances at the opening ceremony, and the one from the Homeland also staged musical performances, thus adding color to the event.
