Eritrean women living in Melbourne, Australia, pledged to reinforce their contribution to ongoing national development endeavors.

They made the pledge at a meeting held on 21 October regarding the objective situation in the Homeland and the activities of the Union of Eritrean Women in Melbourne.

Following discussions on the papers presented at the meeting, the participants stressed the need to exert vigorous efforts towards strengthen the activities of the Union and enhancing its role in the Eritrean Community as a whole.

The Eritrean women also donated $5,000 US dollars in support of the reconstruction scheme of the martyrs' cemetery in Tsorona, which was destroyed by the invading forces of the TPLF regime.

Moreover, the Eritrean Consul in Australia, Mr. Beshir Idris Nur Omar, gave briefings to the participants of the meeting on the achievements already registered by the people and Government in the national development drive, as well as on strengthening the women's union and other future tasks.
