Eritrea: International Tourism Day Marked At Historical Sites in Adi-Keih And Senafe Sub-Zones

International Tourism Day was marked at historical sites in Adi-Keih and the Senafe sub-zones on October 20. Ministers, administrators, army commanders and inhabitants of the Southern region, as well as guests from different administrative regions and the Diaspora, visited relics and monuments at the historical sites, during which archeologists gave briefings on the historical significance of the sites.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, Minister of Tourism, thanked the Administration of the Southern Region, institutions in the Association of Tourism Service-rendering and others who made due contribution for the success of the event. She stated that the endeavors to develop domestic and international tourism would attain the desired target through the joint efforts of the people and the Government. Ms. Amna further called on the local inhabitants to preserve historical heritages.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism branch office in the region, Mr. Yohannes Asgedom, noted that in line with efforts being made to develop the tourism sector, different types of trainings have been offered to 1362 citizens since 1998.

Ms. Amna Nurhussein; Mr. Ahmed Haji Ali, the Minister of Fisheries; Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, Administrator of the Southern region; and Mr. Solomon Abraha, Chairman of the Association of Tourism Service-rendering, handed certificates to government institutions and other parties that made due contribution for the success of the event.
