Luanda — Over 300 members of the Angolan Association of the Rastafari Movement Order (AMORA) organised Tuesday in Luanda, a peaceful march in memory of the South African reggae star Lucky Dube, who was shot dead on October 18, in his country.
During the march, which started at AMORA headquarters, were sang songs of Lucky Dube such as Slave, Let Jah Be Raised, I've Got You Babe, among others.
For the Angolan Rastafari elder, Faia Congo, the march served to manifest the solidarity of the country's community of this movement, with the brothers all over the world.
"It is important to pay homage to people like him (Lucky Dube), who fought for social well-being and condemn this kind of criminal deeds, as only behaving so can we can show to all that we are united in friendship ties", he added.
During the march, the rastas highlighted Lucky Dube's fight against all kinds of social and racial discrimination and the artist's contribution against the then apartheid regime in South Africa.
Lucky Dube, who passed away at the age of 43, was killed on October 18, in Johannesburg, in his car, after he had just dropped his son at the house of a relative, in Rosettenville compound.
In a 20-year music career he released 21 compact discs. The last one "Respect" was released last year.
