Freetown — Rainbo Center's Programme Manager last week disclosed to Concord Times that between May and July this year, his organization has recorded 280 sexual assault cases in Kenema, Bo, Kono and Freetown.

Anthonuis Lansana stated that his institution have provided medical facility to sexually-assaulted children within the ages of 11 and 15.

According to him, 296 rape victims sought legal action against their attackers and 16 victims were impregnated. "Because of the delay in the court system some rape victims prefer to abandon their cases," he said.

Lansana disclosed that rape cases are on the increase and two victims have died as a result of injuries sustained while being raped.

He said they have centers in Kenema, Bo, Kono and Freetown adding that the centers counsel and examine victims.
