A 25-year-old cleaner was last Friday arraigned before an Abuja Magistrate's court for allegedly stealing a Nokia handset.
Timothy Samuel of Karmo village, Abuja, was alleged to have stolen the phone valued at N13, 000
According to police report, Adejuwoe Goke of C12 Halima plaza, Area 2, Garki Abuja, reported that on October 24, the accused stole the said item from him. It added that during police investigation the accused confessed to committing the crime and that the said item was recovered from him.
The accused denied committing the offence after listening to the content of the first information report.
The prosecutor, Phanuel Masin said the offence was a criminal offence contrary to a section the penal code law. He did not object to granting the accused bail but sought for a date for hearing
Magistrate Alkali Bashir granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in the like sum. The surety, among other conditions, must reside in the FCT with a fixed address and must work with either a public or reputable private establishment. The case was adjourned to November 8 for hearing.
