I am quite sure that, I'm not the only happy Nigerian democrat celebrating the judicial demolition of the fraudulent electoral umpire erected by Prof. Maurice Iwu across the country.
This is because, for the first time in the history of the nation, the wrongs are being righted and the people, including the masses are excited. So far, three gubernatorial elections have been cancelled and two of the affected candidates, who were "duly cleared" by Iwu, have been disqualified by a credible authority from contesting further polls. With all these, the loquacious Iwu is still pretending to be standing. He pretends as if he is not bothered, but all of us know, that by now, the man is sleepless, restless, full of shame and enveloped in guilt, except if he is not born of a woman. I wonder what people like Iwu took Nigeria for,a banana republic? Where any thing goes? To him, the country has reached a climax in vices related to governance, so a leader can do anything and go away with it. Hypocrites like Iwu do not believe in the country, but always try to show a fake and false sense of patriotism. I have never seen an elder behaving like him, contributing negatively and yet showing no remorse. But it is time for Iwu to know that times have change, and the country has no place for him anymore. He has knowingly or unknowingly, discredited himself to a point where only his beneficiaries have respect for him.He has entered the bad books of our electoral memory, and each time we think of him,we remember; arrogance, lawlessness, brutality, nastiness, inefficiency, a man full of inferiority complex who seeks to measure it with stubbornness,a compromised fellow, a mediocre, a stuffless politician and a godless creature. He has shown to the whole world the example of a bad umpire, whose services should not be sought. Only people like OBJ can reward such a man with either OFR, MFR or the likes, for doing what only a "conscienceless" man can do.
Imagine the situation where elections are being annulled, and some of the contestants disqualified. We are lucky that third term did not succeed, if not, he would have been promoted, and a state banquate organised to thank him for creating electoral confusion in the land. But thank God we have a credible judiciary that kept its cool, watching the electoral stupidity being unleashed on the nation by a man who was prepared to sell the nation's democracy for a plate of Obasanjo's yam.Let him pay a visit to any aggrieved state in the country and see what will happen to him.He will taste a bitter pill of what OBJ went through in the hands of Niger Delta youths at the Transcorp Hotel last Thursday, while celebrating the removal of Celestine Omehia. Obasanjo was trying to enter the lift to go to the executive floor 10, when he was buoyed unstopped, and forced to go back by a number of youths who were ready to ridicule him.
Iwu is a disgrace to the academic world, and the entire Nigerian community. He is highly qualified for the prisons for taking the country backwards. He has caused a lot of damage to our collective integrity. Now government have to look for extra funds again to conduct fresh polls in many places. He should not be allowed to conduct any other election in the country again, or else there should be massive boycott of the polls, because he will repeat what he did.He told the world that he will do the same thing again if given another chance. So,why give him another chance. He has no respect for even the president, if not why the reckless outburst, when the president himself has rated the polls low,and set up a review and reforms panel?
Both the presidency and the senate should commence the legal process for the removal of the most corrupt and fraudulent INEC boss the nation has ever had. He should then be prosecuted. The outcome of the tribunal verdicts alone,is enough to put the man behind bars.He unlawfully and passionately disqualified those on the black list of his master, OBJ, and made it look as if he was being patriotic. He was a full fledged PDP member without an open identity, but his actions confirmed it. That was why he fought members of the opposition parties openly with his God given but manipulated intelligience, abusing them without courtesy, just because he had the protective priviledge. He should be made to provide the funds needed for the conduct of fresh elections as the first punishment, before being escorted to the Adamawa or Jos prisons, where Obasanjo failed as an inmate, to be rehabilitated.
Please before any one is appointed to such sensitive positions, the presidency should allow the security agencies to do a thorough job of assessing, not only the moral qualifications of such persons, but more importantly, their mental alertness, psychological frame of minds, social focus/order, and political spiritual objectivity and direction, respectively. We can no longer afford intellectual lunatics, who parade and masquarades leaders, to destroy our developing democracy. For the judiciary, I hail you. Baba Kutigi, and your men, May Allah bless and reward your love and patriotism for our country. We need men like you to remind and stop the Iwus, from burying our democracy.
