Rahaita

The Assab-Rahaita road in Southern Denkalia is under construction through the Gedem Construction Company, according to Mr. Haile Gebrehannes, manager of the company.

Previously, the inhabitants of Rahaita, Adi-Nefas, Harsile, Abo, Kiloma and Awgaro used to face inadequate social service due to poor road transport.

Noting that the Assab-Rahaita road plays a major significance in promoting economic and trade activities between Eritrea and Djibouti, Mr. Haile said that the newly constructed road would also facilitate the provision of better social service in the area. He further indicated that a bridge has been constructed in Abo, and the necessary infrastructure is being put in place in Harsile, Kiloma, Rahaita and Gahro so as to divert rivers flowing along the road.

The Administrator of Rahaita, Mr. Doran Ali Osman, said that the road would make due contribution not only in promoting the provision of social services but also enhancing trade activities and improving the living standard of the local population. Similarly, the Sultan of Rahaita, Mr. Derder Abdelkadir Dawd, stressed the significance of the road.
