Freetown — Members of the HIV Reporters Association (HARA) Eastern Region Friday disclosed to Concord Times that they are planning to commemorate this year's World AIDS as part of their normal sensitization drive in the region.
Public Relations Officer, HARA, Fayia Amara said his organization has embarked on series of activities in the district and that they are planning to organize a debate and quiz competition for secondary schools in Kenema to mark the celebration.
"World AIDS Day is a remarkable day in which all the institutions that are dealing with HIV/ AIDS put mechanisms in place to sensitize people about the dangers of AIDS pandemic. As partners in development, we are planning to mark this year's occasion with quiz and debate completion among secondary schools in the township. The ceremony will be climax with a football march between the two wining schools, " he said adding that HIV/ AIDS is not a respecter of man and that people should take precautionary measures to control the disease.
"As journalists we are using our various radio stations and newspaper houses to propagate HIV/AIDS messages," he concludes.
