Nairobi — The lifting of quotas on Asian textiles following the expiry of WTO's agreement on textile and clothing has cost Kenya 1,200 jobs since its enactment in 2005, a yearly economic update by Export Processing Zones Authority has shown.
At the same time, domestic expenditure - a key barometer of the economic impact of EPZA trading measured by direct foreign currency injected into the economy - fell by 20 per cent in 2006 to Sh1.8 billion from Sh2.3 billion in 2005.
