Botswana: Attitude Key to Sound Leadership - Lekganyane

Shoshong — Zion Christian Church (ZCC) spiritual leader Barnabas Lekganyane has called on leaders to adopt the right attitude for the benefit of the people they lead.

Speaking at a massive prayer service in Shoshong and hosted by Felix Barobi Kgamane, Bangwato regent Sediegeng Kgamane's younger brother, Lekganyane said he had chosen a theme bordering on behaviour and the people's thinking.

Lekganyane told the multitudes from Botswana and South Africa who attended the service, that attitude will always remain supreme because "the power of attitude can build or destroy" governments or chieftainships.

"Above all, the power of attitude can destroy churches or political institutions or even nations. Something wonderful is that man is bestowed with the power by Almighty to make informed choices.

As Christians, we are bestowed with the choice to change our attitude. As churches, political institutions; or leaders we can achieve much with the right attitude."

On the concept of value as it relates to leadership, Lekganyane implored leaders to add value to the lives of the people they lead, hence the need to place much emphasis on service delivery.

"I stand here this afternoon to encourage all of you that the greater you add value the more important you will become in the lives of those you lead and they will look up to you as a result," Lekganyane told his followers and the dignitaries at the prayer session.

He encouraged leaders to be exemplary so the youth could learn from them. The ZCC chief said his members had gathered in Gammangwato principally to bless the tribe and its leadership.

He prayed for President Festus Mogae and his deputy Ian Khama so they can serve the people and "deliver the aspirations of the nation".
