Angola: Petroleum Project Maximises Investment in Economy

6 November 2007

Luanda — "Rosa" oil project, estimated at around USD 2.5 billion, has maximised the investments in the Angolan economy, thanks to the construction in the country of most of the equipment used in this industry.

Speaking recently, in Luanda, at the ceremony of presentation of the "Rosa" Project, the director general of Total E&P Angola, Olivier Langavant said that this dynamism of the Angolan non-oil sector was achieved through a volume of about three million hours of labour at the construction yards onshore, in various logistics bases in Angola.

He stated that a large part of construction works of the "Rosa" project was carried out at Angolan yards, in Soyo (northern Zaire province), Lobito (central Benguela) and Luanda, where they manufactured and assembled systems of submarine production, elevation towers, structures and types of equipment, water production and supply conduits.

In Soyo city, Petromar Company was entrusted the final equipping and tests of collectors, as well as respective foundations and structures of aid, and the pre-fabrication of systems of production and injection of water and fixing the elevation towers.

In Lobito city, Sonamet manufactured the sub-structure of the M4 module, and installed the M1 and M4 modules, as well as the two M7A and M7B modules.

In the country's capital, Luanda, Portumo Company pre-fabricated the parts of the structures of strengthening and supporting the new equipment and modules, apart from the interconnection pipelines.

Also in Luanda, FKI/Friedlander is responsible of manufacturing and testing the base and "jumpers" slabs.

The increase in the local context to boost the economic and social development, of which "Rosa" is an example, is a compulsory requirement to the Angolan government, above all in the oil industry.
