Eritrea: 2.2 Million Nakfa Interest-Free Loan Extended to Demobilized Fighters And Disabled Citizens in Massawa Sub-Zone

Massawa — A total of 2.2 million Nakfa in interest-free loans has been extended to 68 demobilized fighters and disabled citizens in the Massawa sub-zone, according to Mr. Russom Hizbai, head of social security in the Northern Red Sea region.

The loan ranging from 20,000 Nakfa to 30,000 Nakfa is aimed at improving the living standards of the beneficiaries, he explained. Mr. Russom noted that a community-based rehabilitation program for the disabled has been introduced in 6 sub-zones as part of efforts to enable disabled citizens to become beneficiaries of all opportunities.

He added that a similar loan amounting to 7.5 million Nakfa had been extended previously to 266 demobilized fighters and disabled nationals.
