Abuja — Anglican Bishops in Nigeria have been advised to boycott the world conference scheduled for London next year, unless the issues of gay marriage and priesthood are resolved.
The Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, gave the advice to his colleagues in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recently in Enugu.
Chukwuma said unless the Archbishop of Canterbury implemented the resolution of the Lambert Conference taken 10 years ago, no Bishop should attend the conference.
Chukwuma recalled that for sometime now, the church in England and America had supported priestly ordination and same- sex marriage, which he described as ungodly and against the tenets of christianity.
"The Archbishop of Canterbury should ensure that Bishops are not embarrassed by promoting same-sex marriage and also assure us of adequate security, for those of us condemning the evil act," he said.
He warned that any Anglican Bishop that went ahead to register for the conference was doing so in his own interest.
Chukwuma vowed to fight against such acts and other social vices in the society, saying that his ministry was prepared to defend the less privileged in the society.
The Bishop attributed the gold medal award he received in the American Biographical Institute (ABI) to his evangelism and service to humanity.
