Araeta

Efforts are underway to ease potable water supply problems in the Miedir, Bihieta and Tio administrative areas in the Araeta sub-zone through constructing water reservoirs.

So far, water reservoirs with the capacity of holding 54 to 100 cubic meters have been constructed in Sahel, Mirah and Gororah, and that others in Miedir and Diwalu villages are in the process of construction. Moreover, reports indicated that the constructions of similar schemes in Ra-Abi are nearing completion.

The head of water resource in the Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Russom Teklemariam, said that water is being filtered before it is provided to the public so as to ensure its safety.

Previously, the regional administration used to bring water from Adailo at a substantial expense in order to provide potable water to the inhabitants of the aforementioned localities.
