The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI,organizers of the Lagos International Trade Fair hascommended Ecobank participation at the 2007 edition of the fair.
President of the Chambers, Dr. Ademola Ajayi who was speaking the bank during the "Ecobank Day" at the fair said the unique features of the bank which has seen it spreading to 20 countries in Africa is an attestation to the its acceptance by the people.
According to Ajayi, Ecobank is an industry leader in Nigeria and West Africa is not in doubt. And its presence at the fair which is an international event for all Africans, and countries in Europe and America is worthy of recognition and commendation by the organizers.
Ajayi, who was represented by Folarin Babadeje, Life Vice President of the Chamber, gave the Ecobank team kudos for a wonderful outing on the Ecobank Day.
Responding on behalf of the bank, the Managing Director, Mr. Offong Ambah, represented by Ivy Onuora, Apapa Area Manager said the bank's pedigree as the gate way to the African markets recently earned it an award as the African Bank of the Year by the African Banker Magazine in Washington DC , United States of America .
According to Ambah, Ecobank Nigeria has in the last few years been in the forefront of unique product innovation in the Nigerian financial industry. It has successfully pioneered the introduction of a variety of local, regional and international card schemes in Nigeria, some of which include Ecobank MasterCard - first to issue in Nigeria & West Africa; also the first in Nigeria to implement an International Card
Management System - Ecobank Naira Credit Card; Ecobank
Regional Travel Card - first to issue and currently available in Nigeria only at Ecobank. The bank is also one of the few Nigerian banks that undertake transactions in CFA and Cedis, popular currency denominations used in the West African coast. At the fair, the bank he said has on display, Ecoflexi, a customer friendly savings account, that provides the convenience of a current account and the Ecobank Rapid Transfer Product, that enables cross border businessmen and women, especially those at the fair to move their money with ease to their home countries within the sub-region, among other appealing products.
