The National Boundary Commission (NBC) is making efforts to recover some straddled Nigerian villages with the Niger Republic.
The commission's DG, Alhaji Sadiq Diggi, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the affected villages were discovered after the demarcation exercise.
He noted that out of the total number of 27 villages affected, seven Nigerian villages were into Niger, seven of Niger into Nigeria while the others straddled the boundary.
According to him, the commission had been able to carry out an ethnographical studies and noted that arrangements were on top gear to resettle these villages back to Nigeria.
"We have been able to carry out an ethnographical study on the Nigerian villages that have fallen into Niger.
"On our side, we are doing everything possible to resettle this people back to Nigeria after the visit of the two ministers of Internal Affairs which the Niger people called Minister of Interior.
"We plan to arrange with our minister to visit the 27 villages before reporting to the government," Diggi said.
He lamented that due to International Court of Justice ruling, River Tunbomota which was initially in Nigeria, now belonged to Niger republic. (NAN)
