The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, pledged to extend 10, 000 Nakfa each to 15 schools of the region in an incentive that promoted all of their students in the Grade 8 national exams. 350,000 Nakfa would also be given to all schools in the region, he said.

Speaking at an education assessment meeting, Mr. Mustafa commended teachers for enabling the region to stand first at national level in last year's Grade 8 national exams.

The head of the Ministry of Education branch office in the region, Mr. Kaliab Tesfaslasie, on his part noted the importance of the incentive in reinforcing efforts towards scoring yet higher results.

It is to be recalled that the Southern region stood first in the 2006/2007 Grade 8 national exams.
