Nigeria: Refund Our Money, Danbaba Tells FG

Abuja — Governor Danbaba Suntai has once again called on the National Debt Management Office (DMO) to refund money illegally deducted from the treasury of the defunct Gongola State.

Governor Danbaba Suntai disclosed that before the creation of Taraba and Adamawa states out of the now defunct Gongola, funds were illegally deducted from the state in the name of servicing non-existent debts .

The governor, who disclosed this on Monday in Jalingo at the joint meeting of the National Council on Development Planning (NCDP), said despite several attempts and presentations to the Debt Management Office, the office has remained recalcitrant.

He then said, "in the name of fairness and the fear of God, give us our money."

LEADERSHIP gathered that the sum involved is over $104 billion.

The governor said if such funds are released, it would help the state achieve its developmental goals.

"We believe in good governance and we appreciate the fact that this present administration is committed to good governance but we are asking for assistance to attain these goals".
