Bujumbura

President Pierre Nkurunziza appointed a new cabinet on 14 November 2007. The cabinet comprises 19 ministers and 7 vice-ministers. This cabinet comes to put an end to the institutional blockage in the Parliament. It follows talks between the head of state and main opposition political parties after the cabinet reshuffle of 13 July which resulted in a deadlock after it was labelled as â-šunconstitutional". Eleven of the 26 members of the current cabinet were part of previous one.

1. Minister Interior and communal development: Hon. Venant Kamana*.

2. Minister of Public Security: Police commissioner Alain-Guillaume Bunyoni

3. Minister of Foreign Affairs: Ms. Antoinette Batumubwira*.

4. Minister at the Presidency in charge of Good Governance, Privatization, State General Inspection and Local Administration: Mr. Martin Nivyabandi,

5. Minister of justice and Keeper of Seals: Mr. Jean-Bosco Ndikumana

6. Minister of Economy, Finances and Cooperation for development: Ms Clotilde Nizigama*, 7. Minister of National Defence and former combatants: Lt-General Germain Niyoyankana,*

8. Minister of National Education and Scientific Research: Dr. Saidi Kibeya,*

9. Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS: Dr. Emmanuel Gikoro

10. Minister of Water, Energy and Minerals: Dr Samuel Ndayiragije

11. Minister of Information, Communication, Relations with the Parliament and Government Spokesperson: Ms. Hafsa Mossi.*

12. Minister of Agriculture and Livestock: Mr. Ferdinand Nderagakura.

13. Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism: Ms Euphrasie Bigirimana

14. Minister of Environment, Land Management and Public Works: Mr Anatole Kanyenkiko.

15. Minister of Transport, Posts and Telecommunication: Mr. Philippe Njoni*

16. Minister of Civil Service, Labour and Social Security: Ms. Clotilde Niragira*

17. Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture: Mr Jean Jacques Nyenimigabo*

18. Minister of National Solidarity, Repatriation and National Reconstruction, Human Rights and Gender: Hon. Immaculée Nahayo.*

19. Minister of Regional Integration and African Affairs: Mr Vénérand Bakevyumusaya

20. Vice-Minister in charge of Basic and Secondary Education: Mr. Ernest Mberamiheto

21. Vice -minister in charge of Public Works and Equipment: Arch. Elias Buregure

22. Vice-minister in charge of Communal Development: Mr. Pierre Mupira

23. Vice-Minister in charge of Planning: Mr. Taabu Abdallah Manirakiza.*

24. Vice-Minister in charge of the Fight against AIDS: Ms Spès Baransaka

25. Vice-Minister in charge of Human Rights and Gender: Ms Rose Nduwayo

26. Vice-Minister in charge of East African Community's Affairs: Mr. Déo Nduwimana.

This appointment was countersigned by the First Vice-President of the Republic in charge of Political and Administrative Affairs Dr. Yves Sahinguvu, the Second Vice-President in charge of Economical and Social Affairs, Mr. Gabriel Ntisezerana.
