Luanda — A five-star hotel with 30 rooms and 70 suits is being built in Luanda since May this year by a consortium involving Angolan and Portuguese businesses, Angop learned here.
The consortium has invested Usd 470 million in the project that is intended to offer about 6,500 jobs as from 2009.
Planned to be built at the site of the Ex-Comandante Gika military academy, at Alvalade suburb, the project is to occupy an area of 300,000 square metres, and is sought to be one of the most modern hotels in Africa.
A source with Edifer Construction/Angola, one of the firms involved in the works, said the works of construction of the hotel are going smoothly and are expected finished next year.
According to the source, in addition to the hotel the consortium intends to build a three storey mall with 280 shops, a hypermarket, six cinemas, restaurants and a parking for 1,581 vehicles.
The business consortium is also considering to build two 21-floor offices buildings, a business centre and a parking for 470 vehicles.
The construction of another two residential towers with 136 apartments each is also part of the plans of the group.
