Bujumbura — The trade union grouping workers of the national telecommunication company, ONATEL, are still opposed to the disbursement of 100 million francs to support free primary education.
The leader of trade union of Onatel workers, Mr Bernard Mukerabirori, indicates that this company can only disburse only 2 million. He indicates that the company is faced with a problem of shortage of funds.
Mr. Philippe Njoni, the telecommunication minister in the outgoing cabinet has already endorsed the disbursement of these funds. Mr. Bernard indicates that his trade union has enough strength to stop this measure.
This support was demanded by the President of the Republic in a bid to support the construction of primary schools which are in need of metallic sheets.
Various organisations have already voiced their opposition to this measure. The Organisation for the Fight against Corruption and Economic embezzlement finds that this measure is a concealed plundering.
