Eritrea: President Receives Credentials of 10 Ambassadors

President Isaias Afwerki today received at the State Palace the credentials of 10 ambassadors. They are the Ambassadors of France, Egypt, the Vatican, Denmark, Czech Republic, Portugal, Pakistan, Argentina, Mexico and Switzerland.
During the presentation ceremony, the ambassadors commended Eritrea's positive role in the region and said that they would work to develop diplomatic and trade relations of their respective countries with Eritrea.
The newly accredited French resident Ambassador, Mr. Pierre Colount, said that his country wishes to work in consultation with Eritrea as regards the Sudanese issue.
Similarly, the resident Egyptian Ambassador, Mr. Ihab Emam Hamoudah, conveyed a message from President Hosni Mubarak to President Isaias and asserted that Egypt is ready to develop all-round relations with Eritrea.
Stating that Eritrean-Egyptian relations is historical, President Isaias noted Egypt's positive role in the region and stressed the significance of enhancing bilateral cooperation so as to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
The non-resident Pakistani Ambassador, Mr. Lftikhar A. Arain, recalled his country's ardent support to the Eritrean people's armed struggle for independence and that he would do his level best to develop bilateral relations in diverse sectors.
President Isaias on his part underscored Eritrean-Pakistani historical ties and that the Eritrean people are well aware of Pakistan's support for their just struggle to self-determination. He also expressed Eritrea's readiness to further reinforce bilateral relations.
Likewise, the non-resident Portuguese Ambassador, Mr. Luis Joao de Sousa Lorrvao, briefed the President about the EU, as Portugal is the current President of the Union. The Ambassador also lauded the endeavors Eritrea is exerting to promote peace in the Horn of Africa.

President Isaias wished all the ambassadors success in their tour of duty.
