Eritrea: Eritrean Nationals in the U.S. And Sweden Hold Public Meetings

Asmara — In continuation of the public meetings conducted in different European and North American cities, Eritrean nationals residing in Washington DC and its environs held a similar meeting, during which they reiterated their readiness to meet any eventuality through standing alongside the people and the Government. More than 4,000 nationals attended the meeting characterized by patriotic spirit and nationalism.

The Eritrean Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, gave extensive briefings to the participants of the meeting on the objective situation in the Homeland. He noted that besides its development endeavors, Eritrea's efforts to promote peace in the region is being acclaimed at the regional and global level.

Eritrean intellectuals presented different papers focusing on the prevailing situation in the Homeland, the region and the world at large, as well as the responsibility of the Eritrean people at the moment. Dr. Gidewon Abbay highlighted the bitter struggle the Eritrean people had waged, international conspiracies encountered and the impressive victories scored.

Likewise, Dr. Asghede Hagos outlined the anti-Eritrea acts of defamation and unjustified hostilities on the part of US Administration and its servants and the steadfastness of the Eritrean people in overcoming such ploys.

The participants reaffirmed their readiness to fulfill what is required of them in backing up the on-going development drive and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty.

Similarly, Eritreans living in Stockholm, Sweden, held a public meeting in which over 650 citizens took part. Expressing their readiness to meet any hostilities designed to undermine peace in the Homeland and development programs, the participants pledged to safeguard the nation's sovereignty.

Dr. Tesfai Aradom gave a lecture regarding the historical development of domination and exploitation. He pointed out that acts of conspiracy against Eritrea, be it in the past or at present, have ended in utter failure thanks to the maturity and steadfastness of the Eritrean people. Dr. Berhe Habetegiorgis on his part gave a lecture on the role of the people in times of war, and asserted that the popular struggle would as ever culminate in victory.
