Eritrea: A 1-Millin Nakfa Potable Water Supply Project Implemented in Serejeka Sub-Zone

Serejeka

The inhabitants of Mesfunto, Serejeka sub-zone, have now access to potable water supply thanks to the project implemented at a cost of over 1 million Nakfa.

Reports indicated that ¾ of the expense was covered by the local inhabitants and the remaining portion by the Government.

The project included the construction of a 50-cubic meter water tank, the installation of a 2 km-long water pipelines and the construction of 2 water distribution stations.

The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Tewelde Kelati, inaugurated the scheme and pointed out that the Government is implementing potable water supply projects in different corners of the country. He further commended the initiative taken by the inhabitants of Mesfunto, and called on others to emulate their example.

The inhabitants used to travel for almost 2 hours on foot to fetch unclean water.
