Nigeria: Siemens - ICPC Denies Quizzing Former Ministers

Abuja — The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) has denied newspapers' reports that it has questioned two former ministers, Senator Jubril Aminu and Chief Cornelius Adebayo who have been implicated in the Siemens scandal involving alleged bribery.

In a press statement signed by the Resident Consultant, Media and Events, Mr. Folu Olamiti, the commission said it is still carrying out preliminary investigations into the allegations and Siemens has been contacted to provide important information on the extent of the involvement of the former ministers and 11 others, to facilitate investigation. Olamiti added that the commission would not conduct its investigations on the pages of newspapers but would carry out its responsibility in accordance with the ICPC Act.
