Zimbabwe: Revellers in for a Treat This Weekend

Harare — Nicholas Zakaria will tonight meet Tongai Moyo at Pamuzinda Highway X-scape where Girls la Musica and Mudhara Zobha support the two sungura icons.

Show organiser Victor "Godfather" Chiraga has assured revellers a well-organised gig tonight. Tomorrow, Moyo proceeds to Plaza de Castilla in Greencroft for another gig. Alick Macheso tonight invades Marondera's Rudhaka Stadium where he meets Progress Chipfumo. They return to the capital tomorrow night for a show at Plaka Tavern in Ruwa. Zima Best Chimurenga Award nominee Frank Chitumba and comedian-cum-musician Kapfupi join Macheso and Chipfumo for an afternoon family show at Glen Norah Stadium on Sunday where show promoter Notice Chigome has indicated that tents are available to keep away the rains.

Rising star Takesure Muronzi and his Pasivanhu Stars re-engages Isaac Tazvida for a potential high-octane gig at Mvurwi Beer Hall tonight before moving to Guruve Hotel tomorrow. First Farai teams up with prison warden Prince Ussi for a rare show at the Harare Remand Prison near Newlands before the pair heads for Eddie's Kite in Chegutu tomorrow night. The BV Labien Musica bus stops at Pagomo Rangers Winners Club tonight before proceeding to B5 Café in Budiriro tomorrow night. The inaugural Big Five Gospel Concert that features Mercy Mutsvene, Bethan Pasinawako, Rumbie Zvekuzhe, Gugu Moyo and Amanda Sagonda with Smart Cylot and Smarties Spirits as guests roars into life on Sunday morning at the City Sports Centre.

Show organiser Cylot said the show was the first in a series and was aimed at bringing the previously marginalised musicians closer to their fans. Club M5 in Westlea tonight hosts Innocent Mjintu while Leonard Karikoga Zhakata does what he knows best at the joint tomorrow night before the New Millennium Queens' appearance on Sunday night.

Highway Drive Jazz Band entertains patrons at Jazz 105 tonight while Kireni Zulu launches his latest album Sekuru at the joint tomorrow with Summer Breeze taking control of patrons on Sunday. Allan Chimbetu performs at Mushandirapamwe Hotel in Highfield tonight before heading for Kadoma's Bereguru Beer Hall at Rumwe. He completes his weekend with a show at Kudzanai Beer Hall in Norton. Tomorrow, the Book Café hosts the mammoth Harare Divas Against Violence concert which parades a star-studded all-female line-up comprising Chiwoniso Maraire, Sibusisiwe Ncube, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana, Rute Mbangwa, Duduzile Manhenga, Sista Flame, Edith Katiji, Patience Musa and Selmor Mtukudzi. Township jazz supremo Tanga Wekwa Sando croons at the Mannenberg Jazz Club.

Shamva's Wadzanai Cocktail Bar will be a hive of activity when it hosts Bintro Crew from Trojan Mine, Queens Go Girls and Star Girls tonight, before a rare Sunday family show featuring Noel Zembe, First Farai, Innocent Mjintu and other local groups.
