West Africa: Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso for Bankers Games

Abuja — At least, three West Africa countries have confirmed they will participate in the first edition of the West Africa Banks and Financial Institutions Games (WABFIG) billed to being in Lagos, Nigeria, on November 26.

President of WABFIG, Nigeria's Tunde Popoola said that the essence of the event is to bring various organisations and their staff across the West Africa sub-region together, to interact and exchange ideas.

"It is the first edition and we want to do everything best possible to ensure that it is well organized. Already, three countries have confirmed their readiness to participate at the games and they are Togo, Burkina Faso and Benin Republic. We are still expecting more to confirm their participation before the end of the week since the games is starting on Monday, November 26', he said.

According to him, the games which will hold at the Union Bank Sports Complex, Surulere, Lagos, has been sanctioned by the recognized body.

"The Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) Zone 3 has already sanctioned the games and the body's Secretary General, Komla Abalo, will be personally present during the week long event", said Popoola.
