Tunisia: Country, United Kingdom to Boost Partnership in Higher Education

Tunis — Ways of further boosting partnership between Tunisian and British universities were examined on Tuesday, as Tunisia's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research , Mr Lazhar Bououni, met with representatives from the University of Strathclyde and Mr Peter Skelton, the Director of the British Council in Tunis.

The meeting focused on ways to expand cooperation ties between Tunisia and the United Kingdom insofar as higher education is concerned. The exchange of visiting professors, and students between Tunisian universities and the University of Strathclyde was also examined as part of the possibility to benefit from the British experience in terms of the implementation by Tunisian universities of the new Bachelor, Masters, Phd diploma system.

On its part, the British delegation expressed its admiration for Tunisia 's achievements insofar as scientific research and pedagogical innovation is concerned, especially through the setting up of technological parks, and research centers.

The delegation also lauded the organisation by the Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research of the national days of scientific research, which were held on November 19 and 20, at the Tunis Planetarium.
