The Rock Foundation, organiser of the annual gospel concert The Experience has promised that maximum security will be provided for everyone who attends this year's edition of the concert scheduled to take place on Friday, November 30 at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.Speaking to newsmen on preparations for the concert, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Convener of The Experience said this year's event promises to be bigger, better and much more refreshing. He disclosed that everything from arrival of the guests, to parking of cars and most especially security are being given maximum level attention.

According to Pastor Paul, "We are aware that people may express some concern about attending an event at the TBS, especially when it is holding at night. We however want to assure all our guests that adequate arrangements have been made to provide maximum security of lives and property. We are working closely with the Lagos State Mobile Police, private reputable security organisations, and our own well trained internal volunteer security force The Rock Police."

Commenting further on security arrangements, Pastor Paul said, "Like last year's edition, TBS and its environs including Kings College Road, Onikan Roundabout, Force Street, King George V, Catholic Mission and other adjoining streets to the TBS will be fully lit-up with high wattage bulbs such that night would become as day. The lights which shall be fixed on special towers will be operational from three days prior to the event.

"Each of the special light towers will be powered by independent generators. This is to ensure that no moment of darkness is experienced all through the duration of the event," Pastor Paul added. "The light towers also function as security posts as officers of the Mobile Police Force will man each light tower."

It is worthy of note that at the maiden edition of the gospel concert in 2006, guests were pleasantly surprised to see inner city youths popularly referred to as 'Area Boys' donning 'Jesus Boys' shirts. They assisted with parking, giving people directions under the supervision of the different security agencies. To the admiration of guests and all who attended, no single case of robbery, intimidation, or harassment was reported. A woman who couldn't remember where she parked her vehicle was ably assisted by the Jesus Boys.

The Experience is an annual night of excellent gospel music delivered by some of the world's greatest international recording gospel artistes and front-line Christian musicians in Nigeria.

The maiden edition was held on the 1st of December 2006. It saw renowned gospel artistes like Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Donnie McClurkin, Lionel Petersen, Tosin Martins, Buchi, Midnight crew and Mike Aremu perform in an unforgettable night of concerted praise.
