Mozambique: Mwanawasa Expected in Country

PRESIDENT Mwanawasa is today expected in Songa District in Mozambique to witness the hand-over of the Cahorabssa Hydro-electric Dam from the Portuguese government.

According to a statement released by State House chief analyst for Press and public relations, David Kombe, Dr Mwanawasa would touch down at 08:00 hours in Songa district.

Dr Mwanawasa would be accompanied by acting Foreign Affairs Minister, Kalombo Mwansa and would be met on arrival by Energy Minister, Kenneth Konga and Deputy Minister at State House Richard Taima.

Zambia's Ambassador to Mozambique, George Chulumanda said on ZNBC radio monitored in Lusaka yesterday the dam would be able to supply power to the region.

Six other Heads of State and Government are expected to grace the occasion.
