Lagos — The authorities of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State has taken on the Anambra State Police Command, over the six robbery suspects paraded by the Police last week, saying that the Police were taking glory where it did not work. The University said the suspects were not arrested by the police but by the university's security.

Again, the university said that it was only one of the six suspects that is a bonafide student of the university.

A statement issued by the University's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emma Ojukwu states:

"The attention of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has been drawn to news stories in the print and electronic media to the effect that the police in Anambra State had arrested six students of Unizik who are armed robbers. The University wishes to state the facts concerning those arrested persons.

The young persons were not arrested by the Anambra Police Command but by the Unizik Anti- cult group

After their arrest and interrogation, it was found out that only one of the boys was a bonafide student of Unizik while the rest were fakes.

The Vice-Chancellor authorized that the arrested boys should be handed over to the police along with a pistol, toy gun, drums, masks, axe and other sundry materials found on them.

The arrested boys confessed that they are cultists and the management of Unizik has zero tolerance for cultism.
