Liberia: Girl With Enlarged Heart Cries for Help

Monrovia — The family of little Laurine Pinky Bobway, is appealing to philanthropists to come to the aid of their daughter, who has been diagnosed of heart disease.

According to the parents of the little girl, Madam Janet N. Flomo and Dweh N. Bobway, an Egyptian doctor assigned at the John F. Kennedy Hospital (JFK), said in a medical report prepared in 2006, a copy of which was served this paper that the little girl is suffering from severe chest infection /congenital heart disease.

The medical report, a copy of which was served this paper by the family, said the little girl was diagnosed of the disease after she was admitted at the hospital in September 2006.

The family said since that time, little Pinky has been attended to by several other doctors who have advised the family to find means to take her out of the country for advance medical treatment because little Pinky, who is 12 years old, has always been sickly and poor in health thereby forcing her to stay away from school for a protracted period of time.

The girl is a 7th grader of the St. Kizito Catholic School in Paynesville and according to the family, they are making a special SOS call to the Liberian leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Speaker of the House and members of the National Legislature, local and international NGOs, the Liberian Council of Churches (LCC), the Female Lawyers Association of Liberia, UNMIL among others to come to the aid of this needy girl.
