Uganda: Naboa Land Row Deepens

Budaka — A ROW has erupted between Naboa Sub-county authorities and a resident, Mr Rashid Lukale, over the ownership of the land were Naboa market has been operating for over 30 years.

"The market has been there since the Obote 1 regime up to now but we are surprised to see this man [Lukale]claiming that the land belongs to him and this beats my understanding," the Chairman LC3, Mr Aselem Magola wondered.

The market located on Mbale-Tirinyi road, operates every Wednesday.

He said on November 14, Mr Rashid Lukale together with other people stormed the market and demolished some of the makeshift structures that were there, claiming that he is the rightful owner of the said land.

The Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Augustine Bujara, promised to intervene in the matter.
