Rukungiri — A thirty five-year-old man has drowned in River Minera between Nyarushanje and Buyanja sub-counties as he tried to cross from Nyabushenyi to Rubanga village in Rukungiri District. His body has since gone missing.
Mr Kenneth Mwisi also known as Salongo drowned on Sunday afternoon after he slid from a log he was using to cross the river. According to his father Mr Stanley Batekire of Kihengamo village in Buyanja Sub-county the deceased was selling waragi near the river.
It was reported that Mwisi drowned during a heavy downpour.
When the Daily monitor visited the scene of the accident on Monday, resident were terrified and could do nothing to search for the body. "We have nothing to do because nobody can dare get into the river to search for the body so we may be lucky if we ever find it when the waters have gone down," Mr Abel Kahogote an uncle to the deceased told Daily Monitor.
