Victor Siero scored 12 goals as Kenya hammered Comoros 50-27 in a one sided Africa Zone Five Handball Challenge Trophy at Kasarani.

After opening their title campaign on bright note on Tuesday , with a 36-23 win over Burundi, the hosts maintained the same against Comoros.

After a 22-9 halftime lead, the hosts could have registered a massive win had it not been for the wasted chances.

Siero, a member of local league giants Cereals, and James Ngoci scored 11 goals each, while Martin Monena and Brian Oduor seven and six goals .

Comoros deputy coach, Abdallah Athman attributed their losses in the tournament to the absence of their key players who missed a flight to Nairobi on Monday. The players were however, expected on Wednesday evening. Comoros lost their first match 22-70 to Uganda.

"We miss the services of five of our key Players who could not get a flight with the rest of the team on Monday, but I foresee a turnaround immediately they join us, probably tonight," said Athman.

The players include first choice goalkeeper Yahya Othman, Fahar Moussa, Dada Omar, Mohammed Abdillah and Ibrahim Mlatamou.

In another encounter, tournament favourites Tanzania survived an upset in the hands of Burundi in a match that saw both teams share the spoils and earn a point each after tying 30-30.

With 10 seconds remaining, Burundi's Rukuno Aloim scored the all-important last gasp goal that levelled the match after 60 minutes of hair-raising encounter.

Tanzania started well, and at one point opened a four goal gap, but Burundi hit back to lead 16-15 at the breather.

On resumption, Burundi came back a more offensive side, but the Tanzanian goal keeper Mustapha Hoza restricted them. Hoza saved seven penalties and stopped several shots from the Burundians. Burundi's Francis Sokoroza scored 11 goals as his tea mate Aime Unbuka notched six. Seleman Sheboge was the top scorer for Tanzania, with six goals.
