The inhabitants of Cibitoke demonstrated today before the administrative headquarters of their commune. They are dissatisfied with the conduct of the police operating in this commune. They claim that the police are involved in the growing number of petty crimes committed in this commune. This police are allegedly accused of inaction while the population is being attacked by armed gangs.

Violence in various communes in the north of Bujumbura continues to escalate despite the presence of a considerable number of policemen. Police often release criminals after a short period of detention.

There is surge of criminality in communes located in the north of the capital Bujumbura. Three persons were killed on 26 November a gang of robbers. An ex-army officer was arrested in connection with this crime. Last night three persons were wounded in the commune of Kinama where police are also not welcome
