Assab

The Ministry of Information, in collaboration with the Administration of the Southern Red Sea Region, offered a course in basic journalism to 17 people who were engaged in news activities in the region. The trainees came from the sub-zones of Tio, Edi, South Denkalia and Assab.

During the graduation ceremony in the town of Assab, Mr. Girmai Gebregergish, head of Human Resource Development in the Information Ministry, said that the Ministry's efforts to upgrade the skills of its staff members and develop news mechanisms is not confined in the Head office only but also to correspondents in the remote areas.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of the region, Ms. Tsigereda Weldegergish, stressed the paramount importance of information not only in connecting with the world but also in strengthening domestic integrity and reflecting national feelings. In this regard, she called on the trainees to work with commitment in the field.

The Administrator further urged department heads, ministry branch offices, organizations and others to realize the significance of information and extend the necessary cooperation and encouragement to reporters. Commending the Ministry of Information for organizing such a training, Ms. Tsigereda assured that the regional administration would extend the necessary support in strengthening news coverage.
