Masindi — Pre-tournament favourite Deo Akope outlined his intentions to win the professional category of the Kinyara Sugar Open Golf tournament by taking the lead on day one.
Both Akope and Kamya shot 73 on a day that was characterized by frustration as all 9 professionals complained about the dry course that has greatly affected their play.
The second day is expected to be tougher as Godfrey Mande, Stephen Kasaija and Dennis Anguyo are closely following in the race for the Shs3m prize money that has been staked by the sponsors Celtel.
The Omukama of Bunyoro Solomon Iguru Gafabusa officially tees off the tournament at 8a.m. before the professionals hit the green for the final day.
