Botswana: Chessman Organises World Aids Day Tournament

Gaborone — Local chessman, Kenneth Boikhutswane has organised a tournament to create awareness on HIV/AIDS among chess players. The open tournament takes place tomorrow when the international community celebrates the World AIDS Day.

Boikhutshwane said that the event is meant to inform local players about HIV/AIDS. He said experts from the government health department will be on hand to offer advice and information on how to deal with the deadly virus. The event will be held at the ground floor Ministry of Health building. Boikhutswane said that all the top players will take part in the tournament except Phemelo Khetho who has opted out due to other commitments. He said he has catered for everyone as there will be children and adult sections. "I wanted to encourage the youth to be there so that they can get this useful information on HIV/AIDS at an early age," he added. He stated that prizes will be divided according to age groups.
