The opposition wing of Uprona, commonly known as the wing of Mukasi, demands the resignation of Dr. Saidi Kibeya, the Education Minister, after he exposed students to danger. This was made public by its leader, Bonaventure Gasutwa, in a press conference that he held today.

With regard to the current situation in Burundi, he said that the population should shorten the days of this â-šcorrupt and incompetent government". â-šThe country is now ruined and insecurity is insufferable," he said. â-šThe population should not continue to support this government which is dogged by embezzlement and corruption, and which is unable to manage the country". Mr. Gasutwa advocated the rule of law as the sole solution that can put an end to the current embarrassing situation.

Although the opposition wing of Uprona still demands the resignation of Saidi Kibeya, the national assembly succeeded in diffusing the situation last week. Saidi Kibaya was forced to accept that he will remove all the obstacles that led students to flee the secondary school of Cibitoke.
