Harare — THE curtain comes down on the CBZ A-Academy this weekend with a spectacular show to be held at the magnificent Celebration Centre in Harare where the winner of this year's show will be announced.
As is always the case in any particular competition, there are bound to be surprises and Sunday is no exception, which is why Brian Chiyangwa is no longer part of the A House, though at one time he appeared to be one of the front runners. He complained of being cheated after he was voted out of the show. He thought he had what it takes to be the best. But, as is to be expected in a game full of surprises, Joseph now leads although he only got into the A House by luck.
Gary Thompson introduced the musical talent show last year, when it was won by Jonah Sithole. He has gone on to release a beautiful album entitled Diversity.
As was the case in last year's edition there are bound to be those who will be disappointed, others who will feel cheated and those who will celebrate and make merry.
Weekend Gazette has already predicated that, Mkhululi, the 23 year-old crooner from Bulawayo will probably be celebrating on Saturday night. He has been consistent since the show began. In one of the episodes of the televised show, he sang a song by Malaika and did so well that the judges were left with no option but to sing along. In short he performed like a seasoned artist. But he might have dropped a few marks in last week's show when he mumbled through a Leonard Dembo tune, giving Joseph the edge. May the best participant win!
