Eritrea: Health Experts From George Washington University Laud Country's Major Achievements in Health Sector

6 December 2007

Asmara — Health experts from George Washington University stated that Eritrea is taking major steps forward as regards the development of the health sector, thanks to the dedication and commitment on the part of its people and Government.

Noting that they had perceived the problems in the continent as being not only enormous but also difficult to tackle, the experts indicated that when they arrived in Eritrea their previous perception did not match with the reality in the ground.

Lauding Eritrea's vigorous efforts to provide efficient and quality health service to the people, they said that the rate of vaccination in the country has increased by 84% in a short period of time, and is thus an encouraging achievement. The health professionals further expressed satisfaction with working with the Eritrean Government on the basis of joint programs. They also expressed conviction that Eritrea would have the desired number of health experts in the near future in view of its endeavors to develop human resource capacity.

It is to be recalled that President Isaias received the health experts from the George Washington University, who arrived here to take part in the inauguration of the newly opened Orotta Post-graduate School.
