Kigali — The Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) and the National School of Administration of Burundi (ENA) have signed a cooperation agreement in institutional capacity building.
The signing ceremony, held yesterday at RIAM offices in Kigali, was attended by delegates from both countries.
The pact stipulates that there would be exchange of trainers and trainees from either institutions aimed at providing administration and management skills in both countries.
They will also cooperate in research and advisory services to step up the knowledge and understanding of public and private sectors.
The Director General of RIAM, Marc Kabandana, said that the pact would help the two institutions contribute to the human resource development needed in both countries.
"The purpose is to coordinate our activities that would enable existing human resource get better skills and knowledge," he said.
He added that the institutions would exchange information on available training opportunities.
"ENA has been in existence for only three months and expects to learn a lot from RIAM," Professor Charles Nditije, the Director of ENA, said
He said that Burundi still lacked enough skilled and qualified manpower because of her past experiences and would therefore benefit from the agreement.
ENA replaced the Center for Advanced Training and On-Job Training (CPF), which was a public administration institute meant to increase the capacity of civil servants.
