The military situation in North Kivu remains the principal theme of the Kinshasa press today
There is "confusion in Mushaki," reports La Tempête des Tropiques.
This is because, explains La Tempête des Tropiques, "as long as the FARDC affirm that they control Mushaski, other sources will say that this locality of Masisi has been retaken by Nkundists."
The truth is that "the insurgents have been pushed back towards Kilolirwe (Le Palmarès) and "Mushaki remains in the hands of the FARDC," reports Le Potentiel.
"If the emns are not given to the FARDC following the summit of Addis Adaba, there is a risk that the war will become bogged down," adds Le Potentiel.
This is why, Le Potentiel continues. "The US should accelerate their programme of military support to the FARDC," by exercising "a dissuasive pressure on Nkunda to take away any thoughts he has of continuing the war, by using the population as a human shield," Le Potentiel suggests.
In effect the dissident general is "ready for a new genocide by exposing the armed tutsi men and the civilian tutsi population in front of the FARDC offensive, which is also supported by MONUC," informs L'Avenir.
"President Joseph Kabila did not go to the African EU summit in Lisbon, as he wanted to assure that all the conditions were favourable for the FARDC at the front," said Le Forum des As.
According to Le Palmarès, "a trap was waiting," in the Portugese capital.
This is because, "Jean Pierre Bemba ahd arranged to take a room adjacent to the hotel where the organsiers had arranged a suite for the head of the Congolese state," added Le Palmarès.
The objective was to meet president Kabila in person at any cost, to negotiate mr. Bemaba's return to the country," aided by "Louis Michel and president Denis Sassou N'Guesso, who is listened to by both Jean-Pierre Bemba and Kabila," concludes Le Palmarès.
