An art exhibition depicting the customs and traditions of the Eritrean people was staged in the Italian port city of Trieste.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on December 7, the Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Zemede Tekle, stressed the significance of such art exhibitions in acquainting Eritrea with foreigners and expressed appreciation to the administrative bodies of the port city, especially Mr. Bruno Sulli, an assembly member of the town's administration who made due contribution in organizing the exhibition.

Mr. Sulli, on his part, noted that the historical ties between the port city and Eritrea dates back to 1897, when a big Italian ship sailed off from Trieste to visit Massawa.

The art exhibition that was prepared by Italian artists will be held for two weeks. Trieste is a world renowned city as regards modern marine transport and insurance corporations.
