Young Africans have completed arrangements to sign Eritrea's national team goalkeeper Berhane Araiya Kahsai, The Citizen can reveal.
Well placed sources said yesterday that club leaders are in their final stages to bring over the goalie to Jangwani Street.
Kahsai was influenced by Yanga head coach Kondic Dusan who watched him at the ongoing senior Challenge Cup.
Club leaders are seeking to strengthen the squad especially in goal-keeping, to add to the single available goalie at present.
The one available goalie is Jackson Chove while Benjamin Haule is serving a ban imposed by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and Ivo Mapunda who has been suspended for six months by club leadership.
If Young Africans complete the deal with Kahsai, the club will have two goalkeepers when the second round of the Vodacom premier league on January 12.
Young Africans secretary general Lucas Kisasa confirmed that the player met with the club's head coach but nothing is official yet.
"The coach is responsible for registering players," he said, noting that he talked with the player and they planned to meet sponsor Yusuph Manji.
Castory Mumbala and Vincent Barnabas were recommended by the head coach and more players the coach wants to be included in the team will be known in due course, he said.
At the same time, the club has finalised a transfer arrangement for Said Maulid to join Angolan club Bravous Maquis.
Bravous leaders were in the city and Jangwani Street officials cleared Maulid to shift to the club, in which he will sign a one year contract.
The club features in Angola's premier league, having just been promoted to the competition.

"This is a new team in Angola, It has just been promoted to the premier league and seeks to make its mark. Its leaders spotted Maulid when Yanga played Petro Atletico in a home and away tie, the Yanga executive noted.
He urged Maulid to be good ambassador of Tanzania soccer in Angola so as to open the way to other players to be recruited.
The player was emotional about his erstwhile club, saying he was going to miss the club atmosphere while in Angola. "I have survived for a long time in Young Africans, made friends and enjoyed close affinities. I will miss that," the player said.
