There are reports that the Founder and Chairman of the RLJ companies based in Bethesda, Maryland, United States of America, Robert L. Johnson, has reached an agreement with the Government of Liberia to build a villa style, four star hotel in Monrovia.

According to information, the hotel would provide a conducive environment for Liberians and other residents working or visiting the country to enjoy leisure time.

A release from the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism (MICAT) says the construction of the four star hotel is another manifestation of government's commitment to improve the lives of its citizens by providing job opportunities for them.

The release added that the presence of the RLJ Company would be a major investment that signifies the high level of confidence many foreign investors have built in the leadership of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Officials of RLJ said the hotel will be built on an ocean front property and is scheduled to open in February 2009.

Disclosure for the construction of the hotel was made Wednesday, December 13, 2007 during a meeting between President Johnson Sirleaf and Mr. Witney Scheidman of the RIJ and Dr. Richard V. Tolbert, Chairman of the National Investment Commission at the Executive Mansion.
