Twelve foreigners have been freed after narrowly escaping deportation, but a refugee advocacy group is seeking answers about the fate of at least a further 38 presumed to have been less fortunate.
The 12 were released on Thursday, several weeks after acting High Court Judge Richard Goodman heard an urgent application on November 19 for interim relief on behalf of the group of asylum seekers due to be deported the following day.
